Misting System

The Misting System is a high-efficiency thermal management module designed to control dangerous heat buildup inside the refuge chamber during emergency conditions. By dispersing micron-sized water droplets into the internal air at controlled pressure, the system utilizes evaporative cooling to achieve a rapid and stable temperature reduction. This method provides supplemental cooling in confined environments and effectively lowers critical heat loads, especially after underground fires. During tunneling and mining operations, limited ventilation zones and high personnel density can significantly increase metabolic heat generation, creating hazardous thermal stress. The Misting System mitigates these risks by optimizing the chamber’s humidity and temperature balance, preventing heat-related issues such as thermal stress, dizziness, and overheating. Similar to global solutions by MineARC and Strata, the system fully integrates with the chamber’s life-support infrastructure and operates in compliance with underground safety protocols. With low water consumption, maintenance-free nozzles and manual/automatic activation options, the system offers an operator-friendly configuration. Its design is engineered to work seamlessly with internal airflow and positive-pressure management, ensuring that misting does not pose any contamination risk and that internal atmospheric safety is maintained.
